Sam Raimi is Reportedly Directing a Remake of Anthony Hopkins’ 1978 Horror Film MAGIC — GeekTyrant

I’ve got some interesting movie news for all of you Sam Raimi fans out there! Producer Roy Lee recently let it slip that the filmmaker is directing a remake of Anthony Hopkins’ classic 1978 horror movie Magic. This is a horrifying evil doll horror film, and I can’t help but be a little giddy that Raimi is developing a new version of the film.

During a recent interview on the latest episode of Post Mortem, Lee said the following: “I’ve only worked with [Sam Raimi] as a producer on films… actually… the first time I’m gonna work with him as a director is on a remake of Magic, which is something that we’re working on now. The Anthony Hopkins movie. We’re just actually hearing the final versions of the different takes from writers next week.”

Lee added, “[Sam] loved the original movie and the book written by William Goldman.” So, it seems like Raimi has some wild ideas that he wants to run with for a new film and It’ll be interesting to see what he’s got in store.

I’ve been wanting to see Raimi direct another full-fledged horror film for years, and it looks like it’s coming in the form of Magic.

In the original 1978 movie, based on Goldman’s book, “A ventriloquist is at the mercy of his vicious dummy while he tries to renew a romance with his high school sweetheart.”

Sam Raimi most recently directed Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness for Marvel, which I thought was a ton of fun!
